What did you do when capitalism died, Daddy?

I won’t be surprised to hear that question from my daughter by the time she gets out of college — or should I say the State Mandatory Voluntarism Training Facility?

When liberals hear conservatives decry the death of capitalism, they titter and roll their eyes. “Oh, you paranoid right-wingers! You see Bolsheviks around every corner.”

But such exasperation is the exhalation of concentrated ignorance. The absence of free markets isn’t necessarily Bolshevism, or even socialism. Capitalism’s death can come in many forms, by many different hands.

Nopherhole has had his share of bad bosses. IF a boss is escorted from the building by SWAT members, is that a bad boss?

On another occasion, if Nopherhole saves a boss from death… No, Nopherhole will save that story for later.

Anyway, US Grant was not always the top General. He worked his way through the ranks from brevet Lieutenant all the way to the top.

In between, a lower grade Grant and his men, to which he gives full credit, show valour and triumph during a particular battle. Not one to brag, but his commander takes credit in person and in the papers, even though he is not the creator of the orders nor is he anywhere present.

Say hi to strangers today. Changing the atmosphere of a stranger may help that person accomplish some good that day.

And you don’t have to take credit.
